* Howard Dean - Former governor of Vermont and a physician still in practice. He decided in 2002 to run for 2004.
* Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) - He lacks gov't experience a former trial lawyer, serving his 1st term. Political critics think that he may be introuble back in NC if he decides to run for re-election.
* Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) - States: "I'm not the political flavor of the month." In 1994 too over the House Democratic but fail to make his party the majority 4 times in a row. In 2002 midterm elctions he resigned to consintrate on his candidacy.
* Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) - Brother to late Washington Post publisher Philip Graham.
* Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) - Decorated Vietnam vet. can he overcome the national electoral stigma of being a liberal Democrat from Massachusetts?
* Rep. Dennis J. Kicinich - 4 term congressman & former mayor. He calls himself a "FDR Democrat" & "A candidate for peace."
* SEn. Joseph Lieberman - Refused to commit until Gore made a decision not to run. Played key role in the formation of President Bush's education bill as well as the new Department of Homeland Security.
* Al Sharpton - 1st African-American, since Jessy Jackson, democrat nomination and has never held office. Will have to deal with the past "1987 - Tawana Brawley case."
